At 4:20 pm on March 10th, 2023, the English Cultural Village of the Foreign Language School Students Union held its first English Corner activity of this semester at the main entrance of Bowen Building, with the theme of "Women Today". Participants included Dean Li Xuemei, Vice Dean Liu Yanshi, Administrative Secretary Li Jiafei, full-time tutor for the students of Grade 2022 Li Jiajun, foreign teachers Kelly, Zamira, Margie, Patrick and some students from the School of Foreign Languages.
The event was divided into two parts: discussion and sharing. During the discussion, the students were divided into four groups and teamed up with four foreign teachers to have discussions. In the process of discussion, each studentsbravely put forth his or her own views on feminism, expressed their understanding of women, shared his or her favorite female figures, and exchanged ideas on how women could succeed. Each student gained a deeper understanding of women's issues.
Foreign teacher Zamira also made full preparations for this English Corner. She had the students read stories about characters and then pasted paper flowers on their favorite characters. She also used games to help us learn about many great female writers and understand that women are unique individuals who can make a significant impact on the world.
After the discussion, students were in high spirits. Liu Yueqi and some other students actively shared their views and opinions on women and spoke about their ideal women. Finally, the English Corner ended amid cheers and applause.
This event not only provided a great platform for students to communicate in English, but also made everyone understand that a woman's identity should not be defined and they can be anything they want to be. The beauty of women is not limited to their role in the household, but also the beauty of breaking through and growing up, as well as influencing and changing the world.
